Analysis:
Arsenal will want to continue to pile the pressure on Manchester
United and Chelsea when they take on Burnley who are winless away
from home at the Emirates. As it is now they are just within three
points of Carlo Ancelotti’s side after beating Stoke at the Britania
Stadium last weekend.
But victory came at a price as Aaron Ramsey suffered a devastating
injury following a Ryan Shawcross challenge, with the Wales
midfielder sustaining fractures to the tibia and fibula of his right
leg.
Despite being shaken from the injury to Ramsey, the Gunners went on
to seal a 3-1 win as they look to put the pressure on the top two. A
win over Burnley here can take Arsenal top b efore Manchester United
play their game as Chelsea is not involved this weekend.
The good news is that Wenger may be able to welcome back Andrey
Arshavin for this tie since being substituted in the 1-0 win at
Liverpool last month. Abou Diaby also has a chance of starting this
clash after a knee problem, while Denilson could also be available
after missing the Stoke game with a calf injury.
Arsenal will however miss Alex Song who is suspended while Robin van
Persie, Kieran Gibbs and Johan Djourou are out on long term
injuries.
As for the visitors Burnley, they have such an awaful wrethced
record which have seen them collected just one point on their
travels all season. Last weekend, they suffered the agony of their
third straight defeat as they were beaten at home by Portsmouth.
That kept them second from the bottom, above Portsmouth but just one
point adrift of safety as the bottom end is so congested. Manager
Brian Law is thinking of the un thinkable when he suggested that a
win here could pull them away from the relegation zone.
Burnley is expected to bring on experienced midfielder Graham
Alexander as he has recovered sufficiently fro m a calf injury that
has kept him out since January. Meanwhile Scotland striker Steven
Fletcher is set to play with a light cast on his wrist after having
broken a hand in training on international duty earlier this week.
Chris McCann is still ruled out with a knee injury which has seen
him miss the last four games with Burnley.
Take Arsenal to win this match and clear the handicap.
Cheers and good luck,
