NFL: NY Jets vs CIN Bengals

With one game left, New York Jets(8-7), are still trying to do some damage, after beating a powerhouse team like the Colts. Now they host the A.F.C. North title winner Cincinnati Bengals (10-5) who barely beat a weak Kansas City team. Nearly escaping the loss Carson Palmer’s touchdown pass to Chad Ochocinco completed a 98-yard drive in the closing minutes Sunday, sending Cincinnati to a 17-10 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, The Bengals reached the playoffs for only the second time in the past 19 years. While odds makers aren’t expecting the Bengals to show up, head coach Marvin Lewis doesn’t expect his team to go anything but full speed in order to enter the playoffs in the right frame of mind. With a win and a New England loss, the Bengals would claim the No. 3 seed. To playoffs via running game The rookie signal caller was just 12 of 19 for 106 yards last week as New York basically took the ball out of his hands and relied on their running game. The Jets were able to rack up 202 yards on the ground against Indy. New York’s run defense is superb, having allowed 3.2 yards per carry or less to four of its previous five opponents, so Cedric Benson won’t get much on the ground. In a near-gale – according to Weather.com, winds will be gusting at between 20 and 35 mph – the Jets can stack the line of scrimmage because throwing the ball downfield won’t be much of an option for Carson Palmer. Betting prediction If the Bengals’ starting defense is on the field because of a potential No. 3 seed up for grabs, you can bet that it’ll be the Thomas Jones and Shonn Greene show for the Jets, especially given that there will be 20-35 mph winds. Only two teams have garnered more than 100 rushing yards against the Bengals since Oct. 18, so don’t expect much from New York’s offense. Considering how tough Bengals are at home, I’m taking the under.
