ENG Con:Tamworth vs Kettering Town

Tamworth v Kettering Town
Football : England : Blue Square Premier
Friday, 1st January 2010 – Kickoff 3pm

I’m turning my attention to the Blue Square Premier this time, and
I’m confident I’ve found a decent bet for the New Years Day fixture
between Tamworth and Kettering Town at The Lamb Ground.
Tamworth (14th) Home : 5-3-5 16:17

The season started very well for Tamworth with the Midlands outfit
stringing together a six-game unbeaten run, but since then they have
only managed one win in their last seven home games.

Putting them under the microscope here, but that win was against
bottom of the league Chester City (winning 3-1), but that game
aside, they have not managed a home goal in the last four matches at
 their Lamb Ground;
0-2 v Hayes & Yeading United,
0-2 v Altrincham,
0-1 v Crawley Town
and 0-0 v Forest Green Rovers.

The danger man for Tamworth is their midfielder Nick Wright (5 goals
and 4 assists), but he’s lacking the necessary support up-front at
the moment to make an even greater impact.

Their overall home record stands at 5-3-5 16:17, but when you take
into account their excellent start, their form has taken a turn for
the worse and the momentum is surely with Kettering Town…
Kettering Town (6th) Away : 8-1-3 14:9

Kettering Town have just recently had their excellent five-match
away winning sequence halted by Histon (losing 0-1), but in that
five match run they beat the likes of AFC Wimbledon 2-1, Cambridge
United 2-0 and Luton Town 1-0 (together with wins over Hayes &
Yeading 2-1 & Eastbourne Borough 1-0), and they have every chance of
securing a ninth away win on Friday.

With eight away wins already to their credit, it’s no surprise that
they have recorded the most wins on the road in the league and their
away record is as follows; 8-1-3 14:9.

They have only conceded nine goals on their travels, with only
Altrincham matching them on this stat. The Poppies’ firepower is provided courtesy of Moses Ashikodi (6goals) who was on Rangers’ books for a while and Jean-Paul Marna (6goals) although I’m unsure as yet whether either of them will be in the starting line-up.
The Betting Verdict :

As such, my tip is to take Kettering Town with the level-ball asian
handicap to cover yourself against the chance of a draw.
