Probably not far off, and i’m not going to let the doom and gloom merchants of rankings and statistics put me off what is a 4 year highlight.
Traditionally a low scoring affair as 2 teams are desparate to win, and equally as despatare not to lose. I can see 1 scoreless first half with a few chances and both teams feeling each other out and the defenders defending for their lives. Second half will open up, and there will be more chances, so a late goal could be the way forward.
Penalties in 94 and last year mean that that eventuality has to be looked into, but there are a couple of interesting bets i like today at the prices.
As a few know on here, I have backed the dutch outright, and after the disappointment of Brazil going out, I have been cheering on the oranje for the remainder of the tournament and i still beleive they have a great chance of lifting the trophy. Bet365 offer of 13/8 about this happening is very generous in my opinion as i would be nearer the 5/6 the pair mark.
The 2 teams are very well known and stacked full of quality. For me it’s all about Van Bommel for the dutch and iniesta and Xavi for the spanish. If Van Bommel can have a career game and keep these 2 quiet then the ducth should win. If he gets outpaced or carded early (great to see an english ref officiate the final) then he could struggle.
Value for me in Robben and Sneijder to score first as Van Persie has been disappointing for the whole tournament, and it’s a toin coss for me as to which team scores first.
Sit back, crack open a beer or 2 and watch the final….it doesn’t come back for another 4 years !!
