This is the game of European U20 Championship for women Division A, which is held in Liepaja in Latvia.
Sixteen teams were deployed in four groups. After three rounds played in the first stage of the competition, many things have become clearer in terms of quality of individual teams. The first three teams from groups A and B formed a new group E, while the top three teams from groups C and D formed a new group F. The four best teams from the new groups will participate in the quarter finals.

France has recorded three wins in Group A, against Poland, Netherlands and Bulgaria. After Latvia (245), France is the team with the most points scored (236) or 79 per match. The average points difference in those three wins was 34. Against Poland,France won 80-31.

Ukraine in a group with host Latvia, Russia and Sweden, had one win (against Sweden). But given that Sweden has not go through, Ukraine will in the new group still start with no points. If theey have played solidly against Russia (74-79), the defeat of Latvia of 61-90 does not give them the right to hope for a favorable outcome against France.
